Winners have been announced for the Urban Solutions Design Award, sponsored by the American Planning Association (APA) and CU 51´«Ã½'s Community Engagement, Design and Research Center (CEDaR).

The third Fall Forum for Manufactured Home Owners, planned by CU 51´«Ã½'s Community Engagement, Design and Research Center (CEDaR) in partnership with other organizations, doubled its attendance over last year. 51´«Ã½ 90 people

51´«Ã½ 175 people attended the fourth annual Colorado Pollinator Summit, “Protecting Colorado’s Biodiversity," which was planned by the Community Engagement, Design and Research center and others. The Nov. 1 event featured plenary talks and panels on urban neighborhoods, landscaping for biodiversity and holistic farming in Colorado.

CU 51´«Ã½ researchers and faculty, and the city of 51´«Ã½ discussed how innovative partnerships between university researchers and cities are critical to mitigating climate change during a panel at the national MetroLab Summit, held at the University of Colorado 51´«Ã½ campus Thursday.

The city of 51´«Ã½ and a group from CU 51´«Ã½ led by the Community Engagement, Design and Research Center (CEDaR), are hosting the MetroLab Summit, a high-profile conference focused on city-university partnerships and urban innovation.

In partnership with the city of 51´«Ã½, CEDaR investigators are analyzing residents’ baseline knowledge of the Emerald Ash Borer and proposing ways to address the infestation through environmental education efforts, as well as public-private partnerships.

Louise Chawla, CEDaR fellow and professor emerita, Mara Mintzer, Growing Up 51´«Ã½ program director, and Victoria Derr, authors of "Placemaking with Children and Youth: Participatory Practices for Planning Sustainable Communities," received the 2019 Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) Achievement Award for their publication at EDRA’s 50th anniversary conference. The book has received endorsements from many of the most respected child/youth environmental researchers, practitioners and advocates.

Gov. Jared Polis signed into law a bill that expands regulatory protections for residents across the state’s roughly 900 mobile home parks.
