Calling all global citizens and language learners! Come to The HIVE @ALTEC and join us for our Language Corner and Multilingual Café Night with the opportunity to practice language skills and broaden cultural understanding. There will be food, fun and conversation!

Have you heard about the Language Corner in The HIVE @ALTEC? This board facilitates language meet-ups so you can practice your conversational skills while making new friends!

Let us help you make connections to improve your conversation skills in English or other languages and to help others improve their speaking abilities in your native language.

Originated from the medieval times, Sant Jordi Day is a Catalan holiday also known as books and roses exchange day. On April 23 we are giving away roses to those visiting The HIVE @ALTEC, until supplies last. Swing by The HIVE @ALTEC to exchange or simply grab a book of your interest between April 22-24. Most of the books will be learning resources covering a wide range of languages and more!

Donations of all types of books in all languages are encouraged any time before April 21. Please drop your donations off at the front desk of The HIVE @ALTEC (Hellems 159).

Join the Anderson Language and Technology Center (ALTEC) and the Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations to celebrate Ramadan and explore the cultural tradition of Iftar. Iftar, meaning breaking of the fast, is an evening meal and we invite Muslims and non-Muslims to participate!

There's no need to sign up for this international karaoke event; come join us for a preview and mini version of the larger upcoming competition (read details below!) plus enjoy snacks, fun music and prizes. The March 13 51��ývision Song Contest is the locally-grown version of the Eurovision Song Contest, the second longest-running televised singing show in the world. The idea behind the Eurovision was to reunite war-torn Europe after 1945, and originally only a few countries participated. As of 2019, 43 countries were participants, sending a contestant with an original song, usually in the native language of the country they were representing.

For this event, which we hope will continue through the years, we invite participants from all over the world to come and showcase their culture via song, dance and lyrics in different languages. The most exciting part about this is the voting sequence, which will include the audience in the decision. The viewers will rank their performances, giving their top 3 a set of 12, 10 and 8 points.
