The National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) is a new effort to make it easier for researchers nationwide to access the computing power, data and tools needed to do cutting-edge AI work.

For CU 51��ý researchers, it’s a great way to start exploring AI or scale up your existing projects without needing one's own big infrastructure. It can also give you a competitive edge in grant proposals by showing you’ve got access to national resources and support for advanced AI research. The Research Computing group at CU 51��ý plays a significant role in NAIRR and is eager to introduce this high-profile opportunity to our community.

Join a webinar on June 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. to learn about this effort. This event is open to all researchers, educators and students!

The Transfer Advocate 101 training is intended to provide a better understanding of the transfer student landscape on campus, highlight the unique contributions of our Transfer Buffs and inspire action toward supporting this population. Participants will also learn about campus supports and resources for Transfer Buffs. Please be prepared to engage in breakout and large group discussions.

Transfer Advocate 201 training is part two, where participants will build on what they learned in Transfer Advocate 101 and apply their knowledge and experience to case studies about complex transfer student situations. Interested in tech infrastructure, computing or system administration? Join CU 51��ý’s Research Computing team (CURC) for a free, immersive, five-day workshop to explore what it’s like to be a high-performance computing (HPC) system administrator—the people who power supercomputers!

Hosted Aug. 11–15 on the CU 51��ý campus, this in-person experience is supported by an NSF grant and the Rocky Mountain Advanced Computing Consortium (RMACC).

Who: Faculty, undergraduate and graduate students
When: Aug. 5–6, 9 a.m.–4:45 p.m.
Where: Wolf Law, court room
Receptions: 6–8 p.m. both evenings

Tentative agenda

Participants will:

Get hands-on experience working with CURC’s Alpine supercomputing cluster
Learn real-world HPC system administrator skills: hardware provisioning, image building, scheduler setup, troubleshooting and more
Gain insight into computer architecture and cluster management
Connect with professionals and explore career pathways in research computing

The training is led by experienced CURC and CU 51��ý staff. The event also includes up to three virtual sessions in advance to help you prepare and access the cluster.

Airfare, hotel and meals are fully covered for those who will be traveling.

Open to all students—priority given to undergraduates and students from RMACC institutions.

Join OIT Research Computing for a free two-day workshop designed for students, researchers, educators and support staff who want to understand better the basics of artificial intelligence and how it’s changing research, teaching and everyday work.

Whether you're new to AI or just looking better to understand the tools, ethics and opportunities, this hands-on event features:

Intro to AI concepts and tools
Panels on how researchers and analysts use AI
Microsoft Copilot "Mystery Story" prompt demo
Ethics and career conversations
Sessions on LLMs such as ChatGPT for education
Networking receptions each evening
